What Makes Balanced Legal Solutions Different from Everyone Else?
We are different because we have not only worked in law firms and offices as paralegals, secretaries and attorneys, but we are also CERTIFIED with each and every software company that we are affiliated with.  This sets us a part from our competitors in that we are not trying to push one specific software on to you even though it may be all wrong for your firm.  We like offering our clients options and want only the best for them in legal technology.  We pride ourselves in being affiliated with the industries best legal technology solutions and our expertise on the legal industry.  We make it a point to play active roles in the legal technology community and continue to educate ourselves on what the newest technologies are.  When working with Balanced Legal Solutions, you are not just getting a legal consultant, you are getting a new member to your firm.

What is a Legal Technology Consultant?
A legal consultant is someone who through training and experience has the knowledge and expertise to make valuable, cost effective recommendations to law firms and offices that will increase productivity and profit.  A Legal Consultant should hold certifications with the companies they are affiliated with and play an active role in the legal technology community by sustaining memberships to associations, speaking at seminars and obtaining continuing education.

What is the difference between a Reseller and a Consultant?
There is a difference between a Reseller (Sales Rep and Dealer are also often used) and a Consultant.  The difference depends on the software company itself and their policies.  For most software companies it is impossible to employ enough people to service their customers all across the nation and the world for that matter.  Therefore, they maintain a Reseller or Consultant channel to be able to assist their customers in implementing and maintaining their products.  Resellers and Consultants are independent of the software company as far as business structure, but are affiliated with one another for sales and support.

For some companies simply signing an agreement allows you to be a Reseller, but that does not make you a Consultant, which means you can sell the product, but are not trained to install and support it.  In order to be an actual Consultant you must attend training classes, pass an examination and have successful installations.  Most companies explain their protocol for Resellers and Consultants on their website.  ALWAYS ASK BEFORE CONSULTING WITH SOMEONE ON SOFTWARE PRODUCTS FOR THEIR DESIGNATION!

Why hire a legal technology consultant?
Law offices are busy places and more often than not Attorneys are so busy attending trials, mediations, conferences and satisfying clients that “keeping up with the Jones’ ” simply remains on their “to-do” lists.  Hiring a legal technology consultant like the folks at Balanced Legal Solutions, allows the Attorneys and staff to continue practicing law and bringing in fees while their firm slowly, but effectively transforms into a productive place, better equipped to serve clients.  As productivity increases, clients are happier and fees have increased, which at the end of the day is what really matters.

Why Should I Pay Someone to Just Sell Me a Product?
You are not paying us to sell you a product, which is a huge misconception of a Legal Consultant.  Do we "sell" products, yes we do.  However, we do not do the marketing, advertising or distributing of the products, so in essence we are just an avenue by which to buy the product.  What you are paying us as a Legal Consultant to do is to analyze your firm's needs, make recommendations on the best solutions for those needs, and then implement and train you to use the product you've invested in.  We would never pay anyone to just sell us a product, so we certainly don't expect our clients too.

What is a Legal Technology Assessment?
Our Legal Technology Assessment is designed to get to know your firm, it's area of practice(s), analyze current needs and goals, take inventory on current technology implemented and then formulate a proposal on steps to resolve the needs and obtain the goals.  It bears no obligation and is only designed to be a brainstorm, "chalk talk" approach on starting the path to a more automated firm.  We do charge for our Assessments, but it is a nominal, flat fee.  Visit
Our Services Page for more information.

What is Case Management?
Case Management is a term used to define the way a case, i.e .file, is facilitated from inception to closing.  This process, depending on the way it is done, can either be truly effective and a fee generator or a complete and utter disaster.  There are several arguments as to which way is the best way to manage a case and unfortunately there is no right or wrong answer.  Rather, the solution to the problem is to analyze the way a firm or Attorney operates and then develop a case management procedure based off of their working habits.  After that, you choose a software program relative to those habits that will pick up the slack where one lacks and also help the practitioner excel in his or her field.  Some may say easier said than done, but not at Balanced Legal Solutions.  Our experience working inside the trenches of law firms and offices gives us the ability to pinpoint the problems and provide a solution, thus creating effective case management.

How can Case Management Software help my Firm?
Case Management software programs are designed to organize your cases, contacts, calendars and most importantly other data such as email and documents.  It allows the day to day tasks of a law practice to operate more smoothly and effectively.  Depending on your firm or office will depend on what type of software to use.  However, thanks to Balanced Legal Solutions you won't have to spend arduous time making that decision.  We will come in and analyze your practice and make recommendations on the best software available, keeping in mind the design of your firm as well as cost-effectiveness.

Will the conversion to a Case Management Software slow my business down?
Just as with anything else that is new, there is always a learning curve that exists for you and your employees.  At Balanced Legal Solutions we strive to provide the best training possible to you and your employees to cut down on this learning curve.  We also continue to follow up on the progress that your firm is making and we make sure to be there when you are experiencing a difficult day.  The financial return created by the software is certainly rewarding and worth the small thorn that the new software may put in your side.
